Nice to meet you!
My name is Heather Matayoshi and I have had a fascination with Japanese culture from a young age. Flipping through history books, being enchanted with compelling story-telling of anime, learning Japanese language formally and my final evolution of living life in Japan. Studying Japanese in University and making life-long friends through international on-campus club activities gave me a slight insight to life in Japan. After graduation, I began working in Japan, but despite all my experience and knowledge, living life abroad is another world.

How long have you lived in Japan?
I moved abroad to Tottori Japan in April of 2011. From then I have had the opportunity to live and work in various cities such as: Okayama, Osaka, Yokohama, Tokyo, Fukushima, Sendai, Hiroshima, Yonago, Toyama, Fukuoka, and Naha.
What is your occupation?
I have been a freelance translator (Japanese-English) since 2009 and I have been an English as a Second Language teacher since 2011 in Japan.
What are your hobbies?
I love photography, blogging, cooking, sewing, knitting, crafting in general, helping others, going to the beach and spending time with my daughters.
Where do you live now?
Currently living in beautiful, tropical Southern island of Japan in Okinawa.
